A vital action on social inclusion is our new Traveller Employment
Programme (TEP) which will run between **Apply on the website** and

website** participants over 3 years. The aim is for at least **Apply
on the website** Travellers to gain employment, and **Apply on the
website** to move further towards their chosen field of employment via
training and education. We also aim to create connections between the
Traveller and Business communities that will combat discrimination and
support Traveller employment in the future.

JOB TITLE: TRAVELLER EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMME JOB COACH

JOB PURPOSE: Support participants to gain and sustain employment
REPORTING TO: Assistant Manager, Employment Programmes, BITCI
DIRECT REPORTS: None
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Yes. Programme is initially focused on the Dublin
region
CONTRACT: Fixed term, 3 years; part time 2 days per week

ABOUT THE JOB

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Contribute to the design of the TEP through research of best
practice
* Develop relationships with Traveller organisations to source
Traveller participants
* Develop coaching relationships with participants based on trust
and empathy
* Create career plans and vocational profiles
* Identify potential barriers to success in the workplace; refer
participants to health/ accommodation/ practical supports according to
their individual needs
* Identify training and education needs and support participants to
access courses
* Prepare Traveller participants for soft skills workshops and work
experience placements run by businesses
* Work with the programme?s business coordinator to network with
employers and source suitable employment opportunities
* Provide ongoing support to participants while in employment or
moving between opportunities

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support the work of the business coordinator
* Contribute to the TEP advisory group in the programme set-up phase
* Help to create and test a tool to measure progression of Traveller
participants
* Gather feedback from participants, track Key Performance
Indicators and contribute to evaluation reports

ABOUT THE PERSON

_Education/ Qualifications/ Knowledge_

* A deep understanding of Traveller culture, and we strongly
encourage applications from members of the Traveller community
* Knowledge of Traveller training and employment initiatives and
policies in Ireland ? their successes and lessons
* Knowledge of job seeking ? CVs, interview skills, online job
searching and networking
* An understanding of a job coach/ career guidance role ? ideally
including a qualification
* An understanding of the barriers facing Travellers who want to
work and the racism and discrimination that they face.

_Experience_

* Experience of working with members of the Traveller community
* Personal experience of the benefits of employment in bringing
about social inclusion and better health
* Experience in a coaching/ mentoring/ guidance role
* Experience of job seeking, applications and communicating with
employers

_Skills/ Personal Attributes_

* Great with people ? able to connect with people from variety of
backgrounds and ability to work well in a team
* Strong empathy ? an ability to relate to others and provide
support
* Positive outlook ? enjoy encouraging others to reach their
potential
* Determination to get the best outcomes for your participants and
the Programme
* Attention to detail - for CVs, job applications and reporting
outcomes
* Comfortable with basic IT, particularly MS Outlook, Word and Excel
